Deputy Knesset Speaker MK Oren Hazan (Likud) has proven to be outspoken since joining the Knesset, and on Sunday he made a serious accusation, charging Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon (Likud) with planning a leftist breakaway party.

Speaking to Walla, Hazan said, "in recent days I hear from sources close to him (Ya'alon) that he is on his way to establish Kadima 2. I haven't heard a denial and that really disturbs me." The freshman MK called on Ya'alon "to return to the path of the Likud."

Kadima was founded by former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon when he broke off from Likud to push through the 2005 Disengagement plan, which saw thousands of Jews expelled from Gaza and northern Samaria.

Hazan's criticism of Ya'alon comes as the minister is facing flack for his extended condemnation of the IDF soldier who three weeks ago shot a wounded terrorist in Hevron, over concerns he was about to detonate a bomb belt. Ya'alon's persistent criticism came even before an investigation was launched and the soldier's trial on manslaughter charges began.

Ya'alon has also been criticized for having nationalist activist Meir Ettinger jailed for the past eight months on administrative orders he signed, which allow his arrest without trial or charges against him. Recently Ettinger was denied attending his firstborn son's brit (circumcision), even though leftist governments previously allowed attendance in similar circumstances.

There has been a wide backlash against Ya'alon regarding the soldier in Hevron, and recently he has been the target of provocative pictures including one of him with rifle sights imposed on his head.  länk

"It bothers me that at the end of the day the hysterical campaign that Minister Ya'alon got started, a campaign trying to turn him into an underdog, to the one who is attacked and threatened, is nothing more than a cynical irresponsible media spin," said Hazan.

He criticized those behind the pictures, pointing out a photoshopped picture of Ya'alon in a Nazi SS uniform that he said he submitted a police complaint over, but restated his criticism of Ya'alon as well.

"It can't be that the minister uses those subservient to him in order to spread terror among his political rivals," he said.

Turning his attention to the recent calls to have separate pregnancy wards in hospitals for Jewish and Arab women, Hazan distanced himself from those calls, recalling how he gave Purim baskets to Arab patients during a visit to Haemek Hospital in Afula.
