In a move dubbed "surreal" by a leading UN watchdog [se nedan], and as a campaign of daily Palestinian terrorist attacks continues to target Israelis, the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday adopted six resolutions - all of which bar none condemned Israel.
Not a single mention was made of the Palestinian attacks, which have left 22 Israelis dead and hundreds wounded, nor did any other countries - even serial human rights violators such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Russia and others - receive any of the General Assembly's attention. More disturbingly still, five of the the UNGA resolutions were sponsored by the Palestinian Authority, while the sixth was sponsored by none other than Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria.
"Surreal barely captures the scene: the world is under assault by terrorists killing in the name of Islam and martyrhood — as Palestinians did this week while stabbing Israeli Jews — and the UN’s response is to reflexively condemn Israel in six separate resolutions, all of which are one-sided," said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, in response to the votes.
One resolution condemned the Jewish state for retaining the Golan Heights, demanding Israel hand it over to the Syrian regime.
The resolution's adoption - by 105 votes to 6, with 56 abstentions - elicited warm words of praise from Syria's UN Ambassador Bashar Jaafari, who expressed his "heartfelt appreciation and gratitude" to the UN for its Golan resolution, and without any sense of irony accused Israel of "occupation killing policies," "expansion," "racism," and "aggression." [Av de senaste åren har Syrien haft Golan 23 år och Israel 49 år.]
Another vote - which passed 153 to 7 - claimed that Israel has "no right" to "impose" its sovereignty over "the Holy City of Jerusalem."
"It’s astonishing," said Neuer. "At a time when the Syrian regime is massacring its own people, how can the UN call for more people to be subject to Assad’s rule? The timing is morally galling and logically absurd."
"What is also outrageous is that these resolutions claim to care about Palestinians, yet the UN proves itself oblivious to the hundreds of Palestinians who continue to be slaughtered, maimed and expelled by Assad’s forces," he continued.
Neuer accused the General Assembly of being hijacked by an "automatic majority" of fiercely anti-Israel dictatorships.
"The farce at the General Assembly underscores a simple fact: the UN's automatic majority has no interest in truly helping Palestinians, nor in protecting anyone’s human rights; the goal of these ritual, one-sided condemnations remains the scapegoating of Israel," he stated.
"The U.N.’s disproportionate assault against the Jewish state undermines the institutional credibility of what is supposed to be an impartial international body, and exposes the sores of politicization and selectivity that eat away at its founding mission, eroding the U.N. Charter promise of equal treatment to all nations large and small."

UK, France, Germany, Sweden join UN to single out Israel as world’s only violator of health rights
GENEVA, May 25 — The UK, France, Germany and other EU states voted today for a UN resolution, co-sponsored by the Arab group of states and the Palestinian delegation, that singled out Israel at the annual assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO) as the only violator of “mental, physical and environmental health,” and commissioned a WHO delegation to investigate and report on “the health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territory” and in “the occupied Syrian Golan,” and to place it on the agenda again at next year’s meeting.
By contrast, the UN assembly did not address Syrian hospitals being bombed by Syrian and Russian warplanes, or millions of Yemenis denied access to food and water by the Saudi-led bombings and blockade, nor did it pass a resolution on any other country in the world. Out of 24 items on the meeting’s agenda, only one, Item No. 19 against Israel, focused on a specific country.
“The UN reached new heights of absurdity today,” said UN Watch executive director Hillel Neuer, “by enacting a resolution which accuses Israel of violating the health rights of Syrians in the Golan, even as in reality Israeli hospitals continue their life-saving treatment for Syrians fleeing to the Golan from the Assad regime’s barbaric attacks.”
“Shame on Britain, France and Germany for encouraging this hijacking of the annual world health assembly, and diverting precious time, money, and resources from global health priorities, in order to wage a political prosecution of Israel, especially when, in reality, anyone who has ever walked into an Israeli hospital or clinic knows that they are providing world-class health care to thousands of Palestinian Arabs, as well as to Syrians fleeing Assad,” Neuer added.
“At the same time,” said Neuer, “UN Watch commends the principled stand taken by the U.S., Canada, Australia, Paraguay, Guatemala, Micronesia and Papua New Guinea in joining Israel to oppose perpetuating a politicized agenda item.” The U.S. and Canada both took the floor today to strongly object to the anti-Israel exercise.
The vote was 107 to 8 for the resolution, with 8 abstentions and 58 absent. The resolution calls for reports on a series of alleged Israeli violations, including on “the impact of prolonged occupation and human rights violations on mental, physical and environmental health” in “the occupied Palestinian territory.”
The text also adopted three reports mandated by last year’s Arab-sponsored resolution: a “field assessment” on“health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territory”, a similar report by the WHO director-general, and a related report by the WHO secretariat.
UN’s 2016 World Health Assembly voting on anti-Israel resolution, May 25, 2016
Palestinian and Syrian Submissions
By backing the measure, EU states joined in the political targeting of Israel—in the form of a special debate, three lopsided reports, the resolution, and the publication of country submissions, including an inflammatory 59-page Palestinian submission which complains of a “racist separation barrier” while blaming increased Palestinian traffic accidents on the fear of “being pursued by settlers”; and a Syrian submission laced with anti-Semitic conspiracy tropes, yet circulated as an official UN document on the conference agenda, which alleges that “the Israeli occupation authorities” continue “to experiment on Syrian and Arab prisoners with medicines and drugs and to inject them with pathogenic viruses.” Jämför med länk.
Unable to deny Israel’s medical treatment of thousands of wounded Syrians, the regime accuses Israel of a plot: healing “armed terrorists from Jabhah al-Nusrah” so that they can “resume their subversive terrorist activities directed against the country’s peaceful citizens and its infrastructure.”
Iran and Syria Take the Floor
Several countries took the floor ahead of the vote. Iran said Gaza was under “an inhuman blockade.” Syria said “the occupying Israeli forces continue their immoral practice, which punish our people in the Golan.”
Egypt accused Israel of “disregard for basic human rights.” Pakistan spoke of Israel’s “devastation of the health system in the occupied territories” and of a “wave of terror against the Palestinian civilian population.”
Venezuela’s Maduro regime said there was a need to “bring in medicines, but this is being inhibited by the occupying power, Israel.”
UNRWA, which received more than $400 million from the U.S. last year, said the root causes of Palestinian medical problems include “interference with basic human rights as a result of numerous policies of the Israeli authorities.”
The whole was met with delight in the overflow room for media and NGO representatives, who snickered and scoffed when the Israeli delegate took the floor to denounce the politicized resolution.
EU Joined the Jackals
Had the EU wanted, they could have set the record straight, and taken a stand against such base demonization of the Jewish state. Disgracefully, however, Britain, France, Germany and all other EU states joined the jackals by voting for today’s resolution.
The EU states could have introduced their own resolution about how Syria has killed hundreds of thousands of its own people, destroying the health rights of the Syrian people.
Yet the EU was silent. Instead, it justified its vote by claiming in its speech that today’s resolution was “technical.” This is the old Brussels-Ramallah wink-and-nod game: the PLO submits a more inflammatory text at the beginning, knowing it will be revised later to allow the Europeans to pretend they achieved a “balanced” text. Israel is then expected to celebrate that it has been lynched with a lighter rope.
Last month, France and Spain voted for an Arab-sponsored UNESCO resolution that contained the wild conspiracy accusation that Israel was “planting fake Jewish graves” in Jerusalem.
With today’s vote, which robs the world health assembly of limited time and resources in order to portray Israel as the world’s only violator of health rights—when in fact Israel is the beacon of the entire region on promoting and respecting the health rights of all people—the entire EU now descends into irrationalism.
By scapegoating the Jewish state for all the world’s health problems, just as medieval Europe once accused the Jews of poisoning the wells, the EU aids and abets the UN and its World Health Organization to betray the cause of humanity and the very principles upon which they were founded.

WHO condemnation of Israel based on blatant PA lies
Investigation reveals singling out of Israel as only 'human rights violator' was based on PA report full of spurious claims, faked photos.

The Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Health submitted a report that was used in formulating the UN World Health Organization's (WHO) discriminatory resolution last week, which singled out Israel as the world's only "health rights violator."
That report included numerous claims and photographs negatively portraying Israel. There's just one problem - many of the pictures were blatantly faked in an overt distortion of reality, and many of the unfounded claims were patently false.
CAMERA blog on Sunday revealed some of the contents of the PA report that informed WHO's decision.
For example, the PA report claims Israel is "holding prisoners in polluted areas, such as in the vicinity of the Dimona reactor or near areas in which waste from that reactor has been buried."
It also alleges: "In April 2013 the Russian newspaper Pravda accused Israel of injecting a number of Palestinian prisoners who were approaching their release date with cancer-causing viruses. Despite Israel’s rejection of the accusations made by the newspaper, the question remains: is it true that Israel is injecting prisoners with viruses?"
Another libelous claim is given from a Palestinian doctor, who claimed Israel freezes terrorists' bodies and will only return them if they are buried immediately in a manner that "makes it impossible to ascertain whether the deceased individual’s organs have been stolen."
But it was the picture section where the report truly shone in terms of blatant falsehoods.
On page 30 of the report a picture is presented showing a youth lifted in the air and pulled between a group of religious Jewish youths and Border Police officers. The PA defined the picture as presenting "settlers attacking a Palestinian child while being observed by Israeli occupation forces."
However, blogger Israellycool revealed two years ago when the picture first began to circulate that it is a Getty Images picture from 2009 showing Jewish residents of Havat Gilad in Samaria being evicted - no Palestinian Arabs are at all present in the picture.
Then in its claims regarding 2014 Operation Protective Edge, the Palestinian Ministry of Health dug up a picture allegedly of an Israeli fighter jet performing a bombing run on Gaza, with the caption: "Photograph taken during the Israeli war on Gaza, 2014."
Here too the poorly Photoshopped image is not authentic by any stretch of the imagination. Israellycool exposed it as a hoax back in 2014, when it was taken from a blog illustrating a story on how Israel could potentially strike Iran's nuclear facilities. The PA erased the mountains and a tall building from the illustrative picture to make it look more similar to Gaza.
The report also uses photographs from Lebanon instead of Gaza in making its spurious accusations about Protective Edge, and it also uses a picture from Gaza dating back from 2012, passing it off as being from the most recent war that Hamas initiated.
When the report delves into the current wave of Arab terrorism that has raged since last September it maintains its libelous nature. One picture presents terrorist Yasmin Tamimi as a "girl killed in cold blood."
CAMERA notes that the terrorist is not a "girl," and it is not even clear she died. The Palestinian Center for Human Rights lists her as being 20-years-old and does not claim she was killed. The radical leftist group B'Tselem does not include her in its casualty list either.
Tamimi tried to stab a police officer after her engagement was reportedly called off. She was shot and seriously wounded, but survived and was evacuated for treatment at Jerusalem's Shaare Tzedek Hospital.
Another picture used to ostensibly show wounded terrorists from the current terror wave dates back from at least 2009, according to the blog.
