Smutsigt vatten i Gaza. Men hellre vapen än dricksvatten.

Israel leder vattenkonferens i USA.

The conference, organized by the Israeli Economic Delegation of the Ministry of Economy and Industry, based in Houston, and the Texas-Israel Chamber of Commerce, will be held directly after the Offshore Technology Conference, the largest energy exhibition in the world.
The water event will be dedicated to the “promotion of innovative and groundbreaking Israeli water technologies” that were developed in Israel to improve and optimize water consumption on municipal and state levels, the organizers said in a statement.
The conference’s featured speaker will be Sid Miller, the current Texas agriculture commissioner. In addition, eight Israeli water and infrastructure companies will present their products and technologies in various fields of water management. Attending will be 200 representatives from the Texas water industry, local Texas authorities, and water corporations.
The event, which will feature opening remarks by the new Israeli economic attaché, Shay Luvshis, is held in partnership with the Israeli Innovation Authority, the Israeli Water Authority, senior government officials and members of the Texas Congress.
The conference aims not only to create a stronger connection between the Israeli and Texas water industries, but to encourage key government officials and local authorities to participate in the WATEC Exhibition, which is taking place in Israel September 12-14. WATEC is one of the largest exhibitions in the world for companies, decision makers, professionals and thought leaders in the water sector, the statement said.
“This is a significant event for the water industry, and the first of its kind in the state of Texas,” said Luvshis

Tigris and Euphrates Rivers are Drying Up

Loss of fresh water in Middle East, NASA image
NASA studies recently have indicated that the Fertile Crescent region in the Middle East is losing fresh water at a rapid rate.  The water flow in the important Euphrates and Tigris Rivers has decreased as a result of this trend and formerly arable land in the area has become cracked and dry.  The Tigris and Euphrates Rivers are drying up, and these are the very rivers that were once a critical part of the Cradle of Civilization in ancient Mesopotamia 2000 years before Christ.  The decrease in water primarily has resulted from a major drought in 2007 and the loss of snow pack in the mountains to the north.  The image map from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and the National Center for Atmospheric Research shows the vast decrease in fresh water in 2008, which continues today.  This loss has occurred over the last decade and amounts to over 144 cubic kilometers of water lost from these ancient river basins, which include vast areas in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran.

Maten tar slut.

Iran hade kunnat be om hjälp från experterna men....

Prime Minister Netanyahu Explains How Israel Solved its Water Problem

Hamas Admits Gazans Behind Water Crisis, Not Israel

Hamas paper finds excessive digging of wells and pumping in Gush Katif lands evacuated in 2005 causing resource collapse.

The Hamas paper Al-Risalah conducted an investigation into the subject of Jewish agricultural land in Gaza that was evacuated in the 2005 Disengagement plan, and found that despite Arab claims that Israel has caused a water crisis in Gaza, local residents are in fact to blame.
In its investigation, which relied on figures from the Hamas agricultural ministry, the paper found that excessive use of water for agriculture by local farmers was behind the shortage of water.
In particular the raising of vegetables that require vast amounts of water, digging wells without supervision, and pumping water excessively was found to be the culprit of Gaza's water woes.
The paper of the Hamas terror organization noted that prior to the 2005 expulsion of all Jews from Gaza, no more than 20 wells were being used by Israelis in Gush Katif, and they were dug around a kilometer from the coastso as to trap rain water.
The average pumping from these wells was around 20-30 cubic meters per hour.
Today, the number of wells in the area has tripled, and the Arab agricultural unions working in the evacuated Jewish communities dug close to 30 more wells - in addition to the 16 dug by the municipality.
The average pumping from the agricultural unions' wells is between 60-120cubic meters per hour, while the average from municipality wells is between 60-70 cubic meters per hour, showing the improper usage of Gaza's water resources.
